Here at Sweetwater Sanctuary the fire’s been lit and the pot’s hanging from the iron as we begin to add savory ingredients to cook up a sumptuous feast for those who find there way to these verdant hills of Vermont. Mark is heading to California in a few days to participate in an Earth Activist Training taught by author and activist, Starhawk. Part of this training is the Permaculture Design course and we are so excited to add these sustainable gardening and social perspectives to all that we do here.

Pam is beginning to investigate at a deeper level the healing qualities of sanctuary both for people and the Earth. She will be studying with folks in Ireland and England this spring to understand more fully planetary healing as an Earth Healer and how Earth Sanctuaries are becoming places for healing on multiple levels. All of these teachings will be incorporated into her Plant Spirit Healing Apprenticeship beginning in April. For those interested in this training please visit www.partnereartheducationcenter.com. Pam continues to expand on her highly acclaimed “Greenbreath” which is a focused breathing technique specifically with plants. Pam and Mark attended a Holotropic Breath weekend this winter to further their understandings of the portal that the breath provides and how this can open doorways to the green world. This winter a professional CD is being produced with Pam’s voice as a guide to enhance the journey with the evocative music that brings one to deep connection with the green beings.

The Journey from the Head to the Heart

In our December issue we shared an astrological perspective of this coming year which indicates that this year of 2010 is a very powerful and potent year maybe, as some say, even more so than the highly publicized ending of the Mayan calendar year of 2012. Even though this coming year seems as if there could be many challenges it also is a time of great opportunity to shed our old skins and old ways of being making room for that which may be brand new. This kind of good fortune comes once every 26,000 years as our solar system nears perfect alignment and proximity to the center of the galaxy. We have incarnated thousands of times in preparation for this very lifetime where we are now being given the chance to reach our full potential.

Stunning ... mystery light glows in the sky over Norway

It is fascinating to observe not only the astrological alignments, the signs in the sky and on the ground in the form of crop circles and celestial lights but also what is emerging within our cultural milieu. The recent movie Avatar is the most amazing spectacle of techno psychedelia I’ve ever seen (be sure to see it in 3D) but, more importantly, the main message is that of connection and not just to another person but connection with all of life. Unfortunately, the military machine is still alive and well (but not for long, the movie would lead you to believe) and I look forward to the day when the entire screen is filled with the life force energy that courses through all of creation. All of these signs, symbols and messages are informing our right brain which controls the left side of our body and leads us out of linear, logical thinking into the heart space of receptivity, infinite possibility, the ‘now’ moment and connection giving us access to the Holy Heart and divine love. As I contemplate what connects us to all of life I come back to my heart realizing that this is how we humans connect and it is the all powerful force of love that seals the connection. “All you need is love, all you need is love, love, – love is all you need, love is all you need.”

In contemplating your New Year’s resolutions see what it is that keeps you from being informed by your heart. Set goals to release that which no longer serves your heart to be sitting naturally on its royal throne. The most auspicious time to make your resolution is January 15th when the new moon and a solar eclipse add potent energy to all your intentions. Visualize the violet flame of transformation burning brightly in your heart – bring orchids (especially violet orchids – Orchis spectabulis) into your sphere thus helping in the transition to the 5th dimension. Stay grounded to the Earth, your home (Burdock essence) and keep your auric field clear (St. Johns Wort essence) while connecting to the Holy Heart (Sacred Basil essence) through your own elevated heart. This journey from the head to the heart can sometimes seem long and arduous but we have so much help from the plants if we would only ask them for their guidance. We may have forgotten who we are and where we are going but the plants haven’t and they are here to help us remember.
